id Software's RAGE System Requirements Revealed!

So, id/Bethesda has published the minimum and recommended requirements for RAGE, id Software's upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter!

Minimum:

• OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
• Memory: 2GB
• Hard Disk Space: 25GB
• Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200

Recommended:

• OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
• Memory: 4GB
• Hard Disk Space: 25GB
• Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550

However something is amiss here -- the Radeon HD 4200 is a piece-of-junk integrated chip with about 1/5th of the power of the GeForce 8800GT. The Radeon HD 5550 is a notch up, but nowhere near the 8800 (GT, GTS, GTX -- pick your flavor) or the 9800 GTX. 

So if you want to actually run RAGE well on AMD/ATI graphics chips, the equivalents to the GeForce cards listed are:

Minimum: Radeon 3870 

Recommended: Radeon 4850

I will shoot an e-mail off to Bethesda and/or id Software today asking about how such an egregious error could have been made and hopefully they will revise the min spec before printing them on the boxes!
